☺WELCOME TO MY BLOG JOURNAL #10 ☺ A paragraph about how you think you will use data collection (surveys) tools as a teacher. Be specific about your subject matter area and the grade level. So for me as a visual disabilities teacher, I don't really know how I would go about surveys aside from maybe using them to gauge students' progress (i.e. asking questions like how many times have you been able to read Braille without assistance, etc.) or to see how I'm doing in the course (i.e. how many lessons have you gone through and felt like I was talking in circles). In any other subject, I would do the same thing except I would probably get more specific to the course, whether it be in relation to science, art, etc. For example, if I was a math teacher, I would use data collection to do a math lesson on mean, median, mode, and average.   A paragraph on topics you found most interesting from reviewing your classmates’ blogs. While going through everyone's blogs some that stoo...

☺WELCOME TO MY BLOG JOURNAL #9 ☺ A paragraph about your experience as a distance learner. Have you experienced distance learning (including Emergency Remote Learning during Covid-19)? What do you like about your  distance learning  experience? What do you dislike about your distance learning experience? When you are a teacher, what is something you can do to help improve the experience of distance learners? Prior to this class, I was a distance learner when the pandemic started and we went to distance learning. When I was a distance learner, I liked that things were more lax in terms of how assignments were set up and how they accommodated exams that were traditionally only in-person to be online friendly. However, I disliked that we weren't really able to interact with my peers the same way I used to. I also realized that I didn't grasp key concepts as well as I did when I was actually in class, I wasn't very motivated like I was during brick-and-mortar classes, and ov...

☺WELCOME TO MY BLOG JOURNAL #8☺ A paragraph about the new skills you acquired from working on the Web Design assignment. Reflect on what you liked/disliked about the assignment. How can what you learned from the assignment be used in your future career?   Post a link to your website . From working on the Web Design assignment, I realized that Weebly is NOT a website I'd like to use for my future classroom. I ended up really frustrated to the point I decided to just use Google Sites. Weebly is not a good platform for me due to the difficulty of making the site templates your own, navigating the editing tools felt over-complicated, and just in general I felt very stressed and overwhelmed trying to make it work with Weebly. However, from this assignment, I've learned a new way of relaying class information aside from the newsletter, and I think I will utilize this a bit more than newsletters, especially since there was the option to add an online calendar, and I think as a more...

☺WELCOME TO MY BLOG JOURNAL #7 ☺ A paragraph about teacher pages on a school website.  Some schools require teachers to maintain a set of class pages on the school website. Visit a school website and look at a few class pages. Write a paragraph about what kinds of information you see publicly (students and parents likely have access to information you will not see without log-in privileges).  Include a screenshot  and  link to the site.    I could not find a school website that actually had a directory of the teachers, but on my high school's page they did have information on the faculty so I used that as a placeholder to replica how a teacher's directory page *COULD* look. For the principal, she has a biography letter that gives a brief background of her history in education (i.e. schools she's worked at, positions she held, her alma mater and degree, etc.). She also has published her Twitter page which she uses to interact with the education commun...

☺WELCOME TO MY BLOG JOURNAL #6☺ A paragraph about your initial experiences using Diigo.  What do you like/not like about using Diigo?  I am not the biggest fan of Diigo. I personally feel like it didn't really contribute anything to our curriculum and it was more or less one of our more disappointing software options. It felt like a failed attempt at an educational version of Twitter and overall the format doesn't make the site any more appealing. Additionally, as a web extension it is more or less useless and a nuisance in the sense that while Grammarly tends to get in the way while typing, it has its moments of convenience, whereas Diigo popping up whenever I click on certain things annoys me. I personally would not and don't want to implement this software in my classroom, however, I can still somewhat look outside my bias and acknowledge its usability. A paragraph about your experience with blogging. What do you like/not like about blogging?  What have you lear...

☺WELCOME TO MY BLOG JOURNAL #5☺ Your early experiences using Twitter. With whom have you been interacting and how have you found it beneficial? How might Twitter be helpful in your future career? In terms of my earlier uses of Twitter, it has primarily been to get news as well as interact with people who had the same interests as me (i.e K-Pop, Anime), people who were the same race/ethnicity as me, to receive news regarding domestic and especially global events, etc. I found it beneficial seeing that I got to see the opinions of others and get informed on things that I want to learn about. I would say that I can find it to be helpful in my future career for doing the exact same thing but in the context of visual disabilities education and just overall the education sector, whether it be the United States education system or how other nations operate their educational system. The digital divide. How does the digital divide affect student success in schools? What are some causes of...

☺WELCOME TO MY BLOG JOURNAL #4☺ A paragraph about  Florida Computer Science Standards Links to an external site. . Select a grade level. Choose one of the standards listed and describe it in your own words. Do you feel prepared to implement this standard based on your current skill set? Why or why not?  The grade level I selected was Grade 9-12, and the two standards I chose were both the standards within the " Standard 3: Digital Tools " category. One of the standards is   SC.912.CS-CS.3.1 , which states " Describe digital tools or resources to use for a real-world task based on their efficiency and effectiveness ." What I believe this standard asks of students is that they identify what digital tech they can bring into their day-to-day lives and if it is effective in completing the task(s) they utilized said technology for. I feel only partially prepared to implement this standard based on my current skill set because while I have a degree of expertise in certai...
