Blog Journal - October 22nd Edition
☺WELCOME TO MY BLOG JOURNAL #7 ☺
- A paragraph about teacher pages on a school website. Some schools require teachers to maintain a set of class pages on the school website. Visit a school website and look at a few class pages. Write a paragraph about what kinds of information you see publicly (students and parents likely have access to information you will not see without log-in privileges). Include a screenshot and link to the site.
I could not find a school website that actually had a directory of the teachers, but on my high school's page they did have information on the faculty so I used that as a placeholder to replica how a teacher's directory page *COULD* look. For the principal, she has a biography letter that gives a brief background of her history in education (i.e. schools she's worked at, positions she held, her alma mater and degree, etc.). She also has published her Twitter page which she uses to interact with the education community. There is also linked her secretary's contact information and the contacts of the secretaries within Student Services. This is all public information, however, I would assume a teacher's class pages would consist of lesson plans, images from class events (i.e. pictures of the students partaking in a class project or during a class Christmas party), etc. I think also, in addition to the biography letter there would be a letter stating that the teacher is certified to teach in the state as well as a certification for them to teach in their subject area(s).

- A paragraph about how you envision yourself using technology to accomplish your professional responsibilities more efficiently and effectively. What specific teacher productivity tools will you use?
In the context of making content for my class pages, two specific teacher productivity tools I would use would be Google Sites and Microsoft Word. I would use Microsoft Word to make my biography letter as well as the letter(s) with my certifications to teach in the state of Florida as a Visual Disabilities teacher. As for Google Sites, I would use that as a way to upload my lesson plans, class materials, photo galleries of special activities in class, etc.
- A paragraph about your experience working on Canvas for Assignment 2. What did you like/dislike about the platform? How could you use Canvas with your future K-12 students?
The entire assignment 2 was very confusing and I ended up exceedingly overwhelmed, I personally don't plan on using Canvas with my future students but if I did I could see myself using it solely for group assignments so each group would be able to already start collaborating without having to worry too much about getting each other's information and whether or not everyone will contribute/who is supposed to be in the group from who isn't. I didn't necessarily have any issues with Canvas as a site, the project just felt like it had an added level of difficulty because it was on Canvas and I already didn't understand it no matter how many times it was explained to me.
