Blog Journal - November 19th Edition
☺WELCOME TO MY BLOG JOURNAL #10 ☺
- A paragraph about how you think you will use data collection (surveys) tools as a teacher. Be specific about your subject matter area and the grade level.
So for me as a visual disabilities teacher, I don't really know how I would go about surveys aside from maybe using them to gauge students' progress (i.e. asking questions like how many times have you been able to read Braille without assistance, etc.) or to see how I'm doing in the course (i.e. how many lessons have you gone through and felt like I was talking in circles). In any other subject, I would do the same thing except I would probably get more specific to the course, whether it be in relation to science, art, etc. For example, if I was a math teacher, I would use data collection to do a math lesson on mean, median, mode, and average.
- A paragraph on topics you found most interesting from reviewing your classmates’ blogs.
While going through everyone's blogs some that stood out to me were Emmy's blog post #9 with Pride and Prejudice, Liana's blog post #7 with Ms. Bonell, and Rebekka's blog post #8 with her teacher website. I especially liked Liana's because I had a really hard time finding pages and I didn't think to even look in Leon County, but I'm glad she shared Ms. Bonnell's teacher website because while I didn't even know this was something schools did, I would want to propose it as something teachers can opt to do if I end up at a school that doesn't have them. While it could be an extra thing to have to worry about for us teachers, it could also be a light-hearted and fun way for the parents to see the type of instructors their children have in the classroom.
- A paragraph on what technology-related skill you would like to learn next, why, and how you will achieve this goal.
For me personally, I want to learn about devices that translate text into braille and how to use them. I would want to learn this because it would be very beneficial to me as a visual disabilities instructor. Additionally, there's also the fact of me not really getting the chance to learn about ed tech tailored to special education students. I hopefully will achieve this goal either through one of my in-major courses OR I will try to teach myself about it if possible to achieve this goal.
