Blog Journal - September 10th Edition

☺WELCOME TO MY BLOG JOURNAL #1☺

              • Introductory paragraph about myself

Hello, everyone! As you already know, this is Ronnie! To tell a bit about myself, I am a first-year at Florida State, but I came in with an abundance of accelerated credits, so I am academically a sophomore. My major is Visual Disabilities, and when I was first admitted I wanted to double major or potentially minor in Special Education, but sadly I won't be able to. However, I am still really glad to potentially get admitted into my major early and I'm very excited to be in this course! I hope that we all have a great semester together!🥳

          • Prior experience using technology in an educational setting

Regarding my prior experiences with using technology in an educational setting, I would say using Blogger is a first for me! I've used Google Sites to make a blog before a few years back, but I wanted to give this a try so I decided to go with Blogger for my blog assignment(s). As for other technology I have used, I have used numerous Google applications like Google Classroom, Google Sheets, etc. alongside sites like Padlet (prior to this class!), Powerpoint, TurnItIn, and various other applications for the purpose of completing assignments. There is also my knowledge of using Google Classroom for the sake of grading assignments, posting announcements, etc. I was a classroom assistant in high school and utilized Google Classroom for a club I was President of, so I got to learn a bit about using Google Classroom as an educator/instructor.

            • Paragraph about your personal learning network(s)

Finally, for learning resources I have utilized the ones previously mentioned along with social media and applications like YouTube, Quizlet, Kahoot, Socratic, etc. to support my learning goals and needs. As a student, I worry a lot about memorization and being able to connect concepts together, so I use a lot of these networks to get a better understanding of the material I receive in classes. There's also the use of networks like Instagram and GroupMe to get together with other students for study groups and be able to get in touch with one another to ask questions and assist each other with assignments. At the moment, these are my personal learning networks since I haven't started teaching yet, but I'm sure once I start my career in instructing my network(s) will expand and change beyond what it currently is!
